It’s about 10 years now that Theo Walcott has been playing for the Gunners, but, Arsene Wenger reckons the forward has not yet got to his peak.

Walcott has had to cope up with a lot of injury setbacks in the past years, but, in the ongoing season, whenever he has been slotted in the centre, he has shown good form.

Walcott had caught everyone’s attention when he was given a place in the Three Lions team for World Cup in 2006.

He was in his teenage at that point of time and had not even made his debut in Premier League.

But, Sven Goran Eriksson, the then England boss, recognized him as a special talent.

Over the years, Walcott has failed to evolve as quickly as he would perhaps have been expected to, but, from time to time, he has come up with class performances to keep reminding people that there’s no lack of talent.

According to Wenger, it’s in the mid twenties that a player makes big strides in the game and grows in stature. So, for Walcott, what he does from here onwards is vital and would decide where he ends up in his career.

In the words of Wenger, “It’s the coming few years which would decide whether he is able to make the transformation from a good forward to a legendary forward.” Continue Reading

Without any doubt, Harry Kane was the standout youngster of the Premier League as star player of Tottenham Hotspur scored 21 league goals and was a hugely important figure in the 5th spot that his club managed to secure.

The amazing performances that Harry Kane displayed in this past season have not gone unnoticed as a number of clubs are interested and willing to splash out major cash in order to sign the 21 year old English forward but it will not be happening anytime soon as Kane is staying with Tottenham Hotspur and does not have any real reason of leaving the Premier League anytime soon.

The 21 year old English attacker, Harry Kane committed his future with Tottenham Hotspur as he said: “Spurs is where I’m at and where I plan to be for a very long time. We’ll be looking to win some good trophies in the future. I want to keep progressing and keep getting better. This season has been crazy and more than what I ever expected to do so early on but it’s happened, and it’s how you deal with it. I am hoping to go on and win many trophies for Spurs and for England’’ Continue Reading

After the disappointment of losing to Manchester United last week, Tottenham responded in the best possible fashion after getting a narrow and close fought victory over Leicester City.

Despite playing against the league’s bottom club, Tottenham knew that they were going to be in for a tough match since Leicester have been performing well up until now. It proved to be the case after Leicester not only came back from being two goals down, but they also threatened to grab a winner at White Hart Lane. It could have been a serious possibility had it not been for the brilliance of striker Harry Kane.

The striker became the league’s leading scorer after his hat-trick against Leicester City and this led to praise from manager Mauricio Pochettino.Kane has been a breath of fresh air in the Premier League. After being highly reluctant to start him in the league, Pochettino put his faith in the former England under 21 player only towards the end of 2014.Kane had already been scoring a lot of goals in the Europa League. It did not take long forKane to establish himself as one of the league’s top goalscorers. He has now gone past Diego Costa and Sergio Aguero for the first time this season. Continue Reading

Tottenham’s inconsistent form continued after they lost 2-1 to Leicester City at home in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

After reaching the League Cup semifinals of the weeks back, Tottenham would have been looking to achieve a similar run in the FA Cup as well. Mauricio Pochettino has spoken about the importance of winning titles in order to bring the squad together for future successes.

This loss certainly does not read well in the hopes of the club doing well in the League Cup semi-final against Sheffield United on Wednesday despite having a lead on aggregate.

Pochettino witnessed his team crumble in the last 10 minutes of the match, but he refused to blame complacency. Continue Reading

American goalkeeper Brad Friedel has come out in support of Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino, who saw his team suffer a third league defeat in the last five matches. Pochettino came as the replacement for Tim Sherwood in the summer too much expectation. After all, he had done exceedingly well in his previous job as the manager at Southampton. He managed to get the club close to a top six place despite being on a fairly limited budget. Pochettino has not spent a lot of money at Tottenham, as he has primarily concentrated on trimming down the squad.

After the numerous purchases last summer, Tottenham have a severely bloated squad. Even though results at the start of the season were extremely good, they have turned sour of late. This is returning to put Pochettino’s position at the club in peril.

Chairman Daniel Levy has previously shown that he will not think about sacking of manager if results are poor continuously. Tottenham’s latest defeat came in the hands of Stoke in front of their home supporters at White Hart Lane. In fact, their form at home has been very poor this campaign with four out of the five defeats coming here.

Friedel, though, has backed Pochettino to turn round the situation and start delivering results in the coming weeks.“It’s very much early days. The new manager has come in and he’s going to have his own style of play.

I don’t think it’s a secret what his style actually is if you’ve watched his previous teams Espanyol and Southampton. It’s very physical and very much in the face of other teams. He wants to play with high energy and to press high. It’s like when most managers go into a new club, they need a bit of time to get their players playing the way that they want,” said Friedel.
