Tottenham Hotspur have lost the Premier League summit after their London Derby defeat to Crystal Palace in the early kickoff on Saturday. The London Derby meeting at Selhurst Park began proceedings for matchweek four in the Premier League this season.

Spurs led the lead until this weekend after three successive wins to start the new league campaign. They were the only team with a perfect record after three games. South Korean attacker Son Heung-Min was at the heart of the good start to the season at Tottenham Hotspur as he scored twice in those three games but he was missing against Palace in what was a big boost for the NunoEspirito Santo-led team.

Son scored the winning goal as Tottenham Hotspur beat defending champions at home in the league for the third straight season. Spurs won 1-0 thanks to the winning goal from Son. The South Korean player then scored another winner in the third league game at home to newly promoted team Watford.

Nuno Espirito Santo and his players started the season with three successive 1-0 victories but those goals were wiped out thanks to the heavy loss to Palace in the derby. Tottenham Hotspur were on the receiving end of a 3-0 defeat with all the three goals coming after Japheth Tanganga was sent off. The young defender was given his marching orders after two yellow cards.

Crystal Palace were good value for their win as they had been the better team until the red card to Tanganga in the second half. Palace took the lead through the spot kick from Ivorian international Wilfred Zaha after second half substitute Ben Davies was penalised for handball in the Spurs box. Frenchman Odsonne Edouard came off the bench in the final ten minutes to score two goals on his debut.

Manchester United are the new Premier League leaders after their 4-1 win over Newcastle United, while Spurs have dropped to fifth spot on the league table due to the Palace defeat.
